Why an Ultrasound Is the Next Step
A positive pregnancy test confirms the presence of hCG in your body. What it cannot tell you is how far along you are, where the pregnancy is located, or whether it is progressing.
An ultrasound provides those details, and having that information before making any pregnancy decision is important for your health and your options.
How CPO Provides Ultrasounds
CPO partners with GoLife Mobile Clinic to offer on-site ultrasounds every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. The mobile clinic comes to us, so you can receive this service in a familiar, confidential setting without having to travel elsewhere.
To receive an ultrasound through the mobile clinic, clients should first receive a positive pregnancy test at CPO. Our team will help you schedule your ultrasound appointment from there.
What an Ultrasound Can Reveal
Gestational age and estimated due date
Knowing how far along you are affects your available options and helps you plan for whatever comes next. If you are considering abortion, gestational age is especially significant, as the abortion pill is FDA-approved only through 10 weeks of pregnancy.
Location of the pregnancy
Occasionally, a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, most often in a fallopian tube. This is called an ectopic pregnancy, and it can become life-threatening if not identified and treated promptly. Symptoms are not always obvious, which is why confirming the location is so important.
Whether the pregnancy is progressing
An ultrasound can also identify a miscarriage, which occurs in as many as 26% of early pregnancies. If a miscarriage has taken place, you may need additional medical care.
What to Expect
Ultrasounds through the GoLife Mobile Clinic are conducted in a confidential setting with trained staff. If additional medical care or referrals are needed following your ultrasound, our team can help connect you with local providers.
